Episode 4 of my Cuban history podcast is now live!
Orígenes: A Cuban History Podcast, - Episode 4: Colonization Before Columbus
This is just a short post to let everyone know that the latest episode of my podcast on the history of Cuba is now live! You can listen to it here.
As many of you probably know, the project is called Orígenes: A Cuban History Podcast, and so far I have covered Cuba’s natural history and its pre-colonial indigenous history up to 1492. In the latest episode I subvert the story of the Spanish context for the colonization of the Americas that most of you are familiar with . Bookended by Columbus’ journey to Santa Fe outside of the besieged city of Granada, the episode looks at how Portuguese, Aragonese, and Castilian expansion in the late Middle Ages created many of the instructions, methods, and justifications on which the colonization of the Americas would soon be built.
